Classification of animals

Hi P3 Pupils,

Remember there are 4 main animal groups - Fishes, Birds, Insects and Mammals! We have read about Mammals in the previous entry. Let's take a look at the other animal groups now!

Birds
- Have feathers as their outer covering.
- Have beak/bill
- Have a pair of wings
- Have a pair of legs
- Most birds lay eggs.


Insects
- Have 3 body parts (Head, Thorax, Abdomen)
- Have 6 legs
- Have feelers/antennae
- Breathe through breathing holes.
- Most insects lay eggs.


Fishes
- Have scales as their outer covering.
- Have fins and tail.
- Breathe through gills.
- Most fishes lay eggs
